Always an edge to it, a sense of danger on the streets and sex in the back rooms, anything could happen and did, you could meet anybody and you did. You could go anywhere in torn jeans and a leather jacket. There was the lowest sleeze to high art. CBGBs to Studio 54 and everything in between. Liza Minelli and Andy Warhol. Now it's like a giant shopping center, BORING. Not worth visiting. Other great cities of the world sre far more interesting.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6339497416592459533.post-59765304945949173852019-12-15T19:51:27.636-08:002019-12-15T19:51:27.636-08:00I fondly remember Maxwell's Plum which was a f...I fondly remember Maxwell's Plum which was a few (ok maybe 4 blocks away). I even saved a few spare pieces. I Schwartz Glass and Mirror, 412-16 East 59th Street. His son, Warner Leroy owned Maxwell's Plum and Tavern on the Green. The WAS a restaurant that inhabited the Falk Surgical corner but the Duane Reade inhabits the old Maxwell Plumb corner. The Ricky's next door had been a little disco for a long while but had originally been the movie theater that Mr. Leroy first ran before the idea of the restaurant came.Garyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12190749194617258116noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6339497416592459533.post-41861212567937700112012-07-05T16:42:25.514-07:002012-07-05T16:42:25.514-07:00U r correct!!!!!wrong corner.....U r correct!!!!!wrong corner.....Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10658955728717242261noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6339497416592459533.post-75836077068886664642012-06-16T06:55:52.524-07:002012-06-16T06:55:52.524-07:00This is wrong.
